Reflection 3

Number 3…these are forming a nice little set if nothing else :) It’s quite an interesting exercise playing around with similar images, not really something I’ve done that much of before…I tend to bounce around from one thing to another like a pinball…perhaps I’m calming down in my old age…then again, perhaps not…

I’ve knocked back the reflected masking fluid lines a bit more on this one, which I think works quite nicely, I must experiment with painting into the masked areas at some point in the future…

Hmm - it's interesting. When I see your oils, I feel I can say "oh, Graham did that" or at least "that looks like one of Graham's". But the water colours less so.

I realise that you're experimenting, and power to your brush - but the colour palatte seems limited, they look almost like stage sets.

Maybe it's because I associate water colours with 'Sunday painters' and Prince Charles.

However, I'm enjoying looking at your work agiain. Perhaps we can persuade sweet SueC to blog again :-)

I like the abstracted feel to this one. I concur with miss t though (get me ;-)....with this you could use much more vivid colour....maybe worth an experiment?

I think I know what you mean…I’m pumping up the colours a bit from real life, but the overall palette is basically still realistic…getting VERY intense colours with watercolour is something I find tricky…they naturally seem to lend themselves to calm, subtle hues…but perhaps I could make more of the ‘contour lines’ I’m painting on the landscape…these I think are unique to me…:)…they’ll be some more oils coming soon though :)
