A little colour...

Started blocking in some of the colours today, still more drawing to be done, but wanted to get some of this down first…hopefully it’ll start to get a little clearer as this goes on and you’ll begin to get an idea of what this painting is actually of :)

Fabulous to see your process. That blue is scrummy but the birds are looking like sea gulls which, for me, makes them predatory. Will you be using aerial perspective?

Birds VERY rough at the moment, so they should look like starlings eventually…and hopefully not predatory ones. Just trying to get some main bird shapes in to hold the shape of the body in place.

I’m going to try and add strong outlines to things, ‘bleeding’ those outlines into the background, possibly giving me quite defined planes within the image…that might allow me to avoid using aerial perspective…in which case I’ll keep the intensity of the colours quite pumped up…Picasso ‘ish’. I could paint it pretty conventionally from here on in, but I really want to try and do ‘something’ with this line idea and see where it takes me :) from a technique point of view this is going to be an experimental painting…:)

I like this one. The colours so far are really scrummy. But I'm not sure about the girl. Bit too manga - ish and hard edges ?? (Just me I know...I'll get me coat....)

Like all the movement in this!
I look forward to seeing how it progresses.
Have fun!
