In the Forest - first carve

Also started cutting the first ‘In the Forest’ lino block today. I’ve done one of the wolves and a couple of trees. Very intricate so it’s taken quite a while…and I now have very sore fingers…still, no pain, no gain. Carving is going well though and I think I’m getting some nice lines…as always we’ll have to wait for the first print to see if that’s actually the case. :)

It is nice to see the process photos of your work. I gain such a good understanding of your work as a result. I look forward to seeing the finished prints.

That’s good Lorna I started adding more of the process shots on your recommendation and I actually find them very helpful when going back through the blog. Everything is ultimately an experiment so thoughts and processes are always changing. This design is so intricate the scalpel is vital to the carving, but the lino cutting tool is a new one and a joy to use, FAR better than the old one I had. I’m not really getting an opportunity to see what it can do on this design so I might experiment again with the next one and keep things bolder…
