Some gold leaves...

I’ve roughed out the leaves on ‘Awake’ today, It’ll need a couple of weeks to dry before I can paint the leaf details and then another couple of weeks before I can add the shadows and sink some of them into the background. ‘Dreams’ is still wet on the gold, hopefully that’ll be dry enough to work on again next week, we’ll see :) I’m using a little oil in with the paint as I’m working up these effects and that coupled with the fact they’re over gold is extending the drying time. So, I think I’m going to want to get more pieces on the go simultaneously… I’ve added a photo of the drying/work in progress wall, the piece on the top left is the ‘Doves over Eynsham’ picture, which has now been resined, I foolishly added a couple of fingerprints as I was doing it, but this piece was always an experiment, so I’m not too bothered about that. The resin effect is wonderful, SUPER shiny…:)

Look like pieces of jewellery when the paintings are gathered together!

I’m going to try my hand at a bit of jewellery soon too….but more of that later :)

These look great. I am intrigued by the use of resin. Are you open for visitors every Thursday, Friday and Saturday? I ask as there are no dates mentioned on your little blue add - in the corner of the blog.

By the way, I'm Dave. I joined the Eynsham Arts Group at last weeks meeting.

Look forward to meeting you soon.

Hi Dave.
Hope you’re enjoying the Arts group :) I am indeed open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, if you’re ever in the area pop in for a coffee :)
The resin is indeed great fun to play with…although VERY expensive if you make a mistake. Over the top of that drawing it gives the effect of 100 layers of varnish…which is very eye-catching :)

I'll pop in when I get a chance.

I enjoyed the group meeting and pint of good beer afterwards. Not sure how my techie codes and digital processes went down with the bulk of the members though :O)
