Some little experiments
What a busy week....lots of framing and Artweekend fun, but in amongst that I've been working on these experimental pieces. The one one the left needs a few more bits doing, but the one on the right is finished...very different styles but both very interesting to work on...I'll take both styles further I think...:-)

Cornish Crows
This is experiment number two, or “Cornish Crows” as it’s now called. Oil paint and gold leaf on board, using a combination of painting, smearing, scraping and carving! I’m currently working on another one like this but introducing some simple figures into the scene. I’ve been trying to merge what I do with the watercolours and lino with my more traditional oil painting style…I think I may have finally found the way to do that…:)

Fishing boats in Boscastle harbour - Drawing
Working on another Cornish swirling painting today. Some fishing boats in Boscastle harbour, just finished the drawing so I thought I’d do a quick post here. Boats are hard enough to draw normally, playing around with this slightly warped perspective has taken a while ;) lol…time to throw some masking fluid on…:)

Boscastle
Did this one of Boscastle in Cornwall while I was down there last week. Lots more lines and drawing in this than normal so it took a lot longer to do…also hadn’t done one in a while, so it took a bit of time to get back into the swing of things. I took LOADS of photos while I was down there so should get a couple more done over the coming weeks…though really must try and get another Eynsham one or two done for the next exhibition in the village…

Trip to Cornwall

Have just got back from an Easter break in Cornwall, got a couple of watercolours done while I was down there. The first is Rocky Valley near Boscastle and the second Rough Tor up on Bodmin. I was playing around with lifting more colour off to get the stone textures working... and generally glazing the colours on a bit more than I usually do and I'm quite pleased with the results on both pictures. Both paintings are a little bigger than the ones I've done before, which also helped... So all in all a successful trip :)I've also been taking a few photos for some future oils, more on those to come soon :)
